Why We Choose Our Ingredients

At the heart of every biscuit we make is a simple belief: every ingredient should have a purpose.

We don't add ingredients because they're fashionable or because they sound impressive on a label. Every recipe is carefully created using recognisable natural ingredients chosen for the role they play within each biscuit. That's what helps make our range of natural dog biscuits and healthy dog treats a little different.

Because we use a higher proportion of wet ingredients than dry, our biscuits naturally shrink a little during baking. We're perfectly happy with that. We'd rather focus on what goes into our biscuits than how big they look. In our case, we might be small, but we're mighty!

Many of our recipes start with oat flour, a naturally gluten-free flour grown here in Great Britain. Gentle on digestion and a source of fibre, it's a perfect base for our everyday baked dog biscuits.

For our Peanut Butter and Carrot Cake recipes, we use gram flour and organic buckwheat flour. Together they create a satisfying crunch while naturally providing more protein than many traditional dog biscuit recipes.

We also use ingredients such as banana, sweet potato, blueberries and cranberries, chosen not only for their flavour but for the natural goodness they bring to our handmade dog biscuits.

Some ingredients have a more specific role. Our Calm & Relax biscuits contain a carefully selected blend of botanicals including chamomile, lemon balm and valerian root, while Fresh Breath combines parsley and spearmint for a naturally aromatic biscuit.

Our Brewer's Grain biscuits are another great example of our approach. Made using upcycled brewer's grain, they help give a valuable ingredient a second purpose while naturally contributing additional fibre.
